Napa Green news

Hello Napa Green Community,

I hope everyone is feeling more even keel at the start of this week than we were in the wake of the shocking news on Silicon Valley Bank last week. As weโ€™ve watched this unfold, weโ€™ve been thinking about our members who are navigating this difficult situation. We were set to begin sending out invoices for our annual Winery and Vineyard Licensing Fees last week but we put that on pause. We will be sending out invoices this week and next, but we want to invite any members who may need more time to please reach out.

It is hard to believe that we are only 15 days away from the launch of the 2023ย RISE Climate & Wine Symposium, with the inimitable Jancis Robinson, MW. We have 60 leading speakers and 40 โ€œSustainable Services & Solutionsโ€ sponsors, including all of our Marquee keynote speakers: April 5 Jancis Robinson, MW, JancisRobinson.com | April 6 Paul Muller, Full Belly Farm | April 12 Jason Haas, Tablas Creek Vineyard | April 13 Mimi Casteel, Hope Well Wine | April 19 Maryam Ahmed, Diversity in Wine Leadership Forum | April 20 Michael Silacci, Opus One Winery in conversation with myself.ย

Watch our video below sharing what you can look forward to during this action-oriented six-event series:

We also have sustainability spotlight videos from our RISE Exclusive Event Sponsors:ย MCE,ย Lallemand Plant Care,ย H&A Barrel Management,ย Napa Valley Vintners,ย andย Coming Soonย International Wineries for Climate Action.

See you at RISE!

Anna Brittain
Executive Director

In case you werenโ€™t able to join us last year for the Symposium (formerly THRIVES, now returning as RISE) this is a series of six half-day events organized around the Six Pillars of Sustainable Winegrowing Leadership:

We already have 40 speakers confirmed, including Jancis Robinson (Apr 5), Mimi Casteel (Apr 13), Maryam Ahmed (Apr 19), and Esther Mobley (Apr 20), and another 20 in the works. RISE goes beyond inspiration to provide the mentors, resources, tools, and services to start making positive change.ย

If not here, where? If not now, when?ย Letโ€™s build local resilience and longevity AND leverage our powerful leadership platform to catalyze global industry transformation.

A huge thanks to our Premier, Community, and Exclusive Event Sponsors:

Soil Health Analysis

February 23 โ€“ Soil Health Analysis W/Vineyard Soil Technologies

Chimney Rock Winery | 9 am-1 pm | Tickets are free & lunch is provided

Join us to learn about how and why to sample and analyze your soil health. This workshop will be led by Nick Madden of VST (Paul Anamosa’s firm) and is focused on empowering growers to sample their soil and interpret and implement the results. We took advanced samples from the workshop site that we will interpret together, and we will have a soil pit dug on-site to investigate. Because of the hands-on nature of the event space is limited so sign up soon to secure your spot.ย REGISTER HERE

Earth Day Wine Donations

Earth Month & Earth Day Wine Donations

As Megan Scott says, โ€œEarth Day is our biggest holiday!โ€ April is a time when guests, neighbors, consumers, restaurants and retailers are all extra tuned in to environmental stewardship and sustainable winegrowing. Take advantage of this month to share your sustainability story, with grounded examples and successes. In March weโ€™ll be sharing some resources and tips for spotlighting your sustainability story on social media and other communications channels.ย

Seeking Member Green Wines: Earth Day Napa 2023 will return to Oxbow Commons on Sunday, April 23 and Napa Green member wines will once again be the exclusive wines poured. Please reach out to Megan,ย megan@napagreen.org,ย if you would like to donate a half or full-case.ย
